  2. Hello Kathy,

I will respond to all tomorrow; I realize you are in a time crunch.

It all looks good though and very exciting for you, I’m sure!

  3. Hello Kathy,

I have gone over the four messages you sent with an attachment or picture.

Re the attachment headed Chapter 9 you refer to Steve MacDougal and Steve Morton which is confusing to anyone who doesn’t know it’s the same person. You asked where I waited for my sister. I waited in ‘the hospital’ ( I don’t know name or location) until my sister Ann and her husband came for me. You asked about the diary and i have given you that information.

Re the next attachment that begins with ‘Thursday morning was the beginning…’; looks good to me except possibly phrase ‘swimming hole.’ We anchored and people swam off the boat as i recall.

Re your third attachment, the picture of the cover, you asked about my ‘career in travel and especially how it relates to Susan. ? I was a ‘water’ person for as long as I know. Maybe it was my age, sort of in between childhood and adulthood but the MARVEL experience just didn’t change me in that respect. When I graduated from high school two years later I started at Cunard as an ‘office boy.’ I decided that if I was going to work for a shipping line, it would be the greatest one! I was ‘promoted’ pretty quickly and in a year and a half I went on my first cruise as part of the Cruise Staff. I started a pattern of winter cruising, working in the office for the rest of the time for a few years, then more frequent cruising and by 1962 Cunard created a full time cruise staff which I became part of. I’ve been to the edges of almost everywhere and it was a wonderful, unique experience that is impossible today. Being a professional passenger became a little unsettling though so I cam ashore, moved to the Greek Line and included a little cruising and when Greek Line collapsed I found my way back to Cunard and became the first ‘Executive Secretary of the QE2 World Cruise Society (!). I became a little restles though and found employment in cruise sales. My last employer was Pisa Brothers Travel, a high end New York City agency. I was the VP of the Cruise Division and was still in position to join many cruises. The best part of ‘cruising’ for me has always been the time at sea and fortunately the LEVIN J MARVEL didn’t deny me that.

I’m sorry that the above is a little long but it represents 46 years! I think with that I’ve covered what you asked. I wish you the best of luck with the book and I expect an autographed copy!

I’m sure your QUEEN ELIZABETH cruise will be wonderful; Cunard is still the finest and offers the classic cruise experience, not something for the masses. And what’s better than sailing into Sydney harbor to end a wonderful trip!

In the meantime though don’t hesitate to call on me. I am trying to figure out a way to get to Key West and a visit with Bill Verge. It’s a great ‘reunion spot!’

    Cheers, John ________________________________
